John M. S. Williams

John McKeown Snow Williams ( born August 13, 1818 in Richmond, Virginia; † March 19, 1886 in Cambridge, Massachusetts ) was an American politician. Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his youth John Williams moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he attended the public schools. He was then engaged in trade. He was also shipowners. Politically, he joined the Republican Party, founded in 1854. In 1856 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Massachusetts; In 1858 he was a member of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1872 Wiliiams was in the eighth electoral district of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of George Frisbie Hoar on March 4, 1873. Since he Democrat William W. Warren was defeated in 1874, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1875. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives John Williams took his previous activities on again. He died on 19 March 1886 in Cambridge.
