John Macias

John Macias ( born March 2, 1585 Ribera del Fresno, Spain, † September 16, 1645 in Lima, Peru) was a Spanish Dominican and saint.

Life

John grew up, because of the early death of his parents, with his uncle on. 1619 he went to Columbia, and three years later he emigrated to Peru. He entered Lima as a lay brother of the Dominican Order at and was 23 years in the Peruvian capital as a janitor working. Piety, poverty and obedience, and a deep love for the poor and sick recorded from the humble monk. He is said to have already known during his lifetime, on what day and at what hour he would die.

John was on 28 September 1975 by Pope Paul VI. canonized. His feast day is September 16.
