John McQueen

John McQueen (* February 9, 1804 in Maxton, Robeson County, North Carolina; † August 30, 1867 in Society Hill, South Carolina ) was an American politician (Democratic Party), and of the state of South Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives represented in Konföderiertenkongress.

John McQueen received his education with private teachers and then enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill a. After he had there acquired his degree, he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1828 and commenced practice in Bennettsville (South Carolina). From 1833 to 1837 he served in the state militia.

In 1844, McQueen wrote his first unsuccessfully seek a seat in Congress. After the death of Mr Alexander D. Sims, he decided then the by-election for himself and moved on February 12, 1849 the House of Representatives in Washington. There he remained until his resignation on 21 December 1860.

After the outbreak of the Civil War, McQueen committed politically in the Confederacy. He was elected to the House of Representatives of the first Konfödiertenkongresses, where he served from 1862 to 1864.
