John Paul DeJoria

John Paul DeJoria ( born April 13, 1944 in Los Angeles, California) is the co-founder of John Paul Mitchell Systems. It is known that he made it as a former homeless person to become a billionaire (see American Dream).

Life

John Paul DeJorias father was an immigrant from Italy, his mother was an immigrant from Greece. Even before he was two years old, he lived with his brother at his divorced mother. DeJoria grew up in Los Angeles.

At the age of nine, he began to perceive several smaller jobs to support his family, including the repair of bicycles, a caretaker's office, the sale of encyclopedias, photocopiers, insurance companies and magazines. After finishing school in 1962 he joined the Navy.

After he had some time in the Time Magazine working in marketing, DeJoria started in 1971 at Redken, a manufacturer of hair care products to work. There he was employed in several positions, including sales staff, departmental, branch and national leaders. During this time DeJoria gained extensive experience in sales, marketing and sales of beauty products. Although he had a lot of success, he was released after about five years, because his methods did not coincide with those of his superiors. In 1980 he founded together with Paul Mitchell hair care products for a company, which later under the name of John Paul Mitchell Systems became known - with an initial investment of about 700 dollars, which he borrowed from his mother. After he started the business, he lived with his son in a car and financed his food by collecting empty bottles. In 1989, John Paul DeJoria founded, together with Martin Crowley The Patrón Spirits Company. On 13 June 1993 he married Eloise DeJoria. According to Forbes Magazine, his wealth is $ 4.3 billion. He has several properties, including Las Vegas and Austin, and donates his money to charity. John Paul DeJoria has six children and four grandchildren.
