John Pohl

John "Johnny" Pohl ( born June 29, 1979 in Rochester, Minnesota ) is a retired American professional ice hockey forward who was active for the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League last.

Career

Pohl grew up in Red Wing and was during his time at Red Wing High School as one of the outstanding players. In 1998 he was after he had scored in 28 games total of 107 points, for "Mr. " Elected Hockey, an annual award to the best high school hockey player in Minnesota. In the NHL Entry Draft 1998 Pohl was selected in the ninth round and 255 overall position of the St. Louis Blues. He then played for the University of Minnesota. The highlight was winning the national championship of NCAA in 2002, when Pohl in the final game of the Frozen Four Tournament against the University of Maine, after he had already made to the interim 2:1, both shortly before the final whistle, when he also in overtime to score the winner gave an assist. In four years at the University of Minnesota Pohl scored a total of 200 points (71 goals and 129 assists).

In the season 2002/ 03 Pohl was at the Worcester IceCats in the American Hockey League debut as a professional hockey player. In 58 games he scored 26 goals and had 32 assists. In 2003 he was nominated for the World Cup in the national team of the United States. In six games, he scored seven points, but cut the U.S. national team with space 13 below average. In the 2003 /04 season Pohl completed for the Blues his first game in the NHL. But he could not prevail on the team and continued to play for the Worcester IceCats in the AHL. After the 2004/ 05 lockout season Pohl was transferred on 24 August 2005 by the St. Louis Blues to Toronto Maple Leafs. After he had been employed in the 2005 /06 in seven games in the NHL and mainly in the farm team, the Toronto Marlies was used, he made the following year, the breakthrough. For the season 2008/ 09 he moved to Lugano. After failing to meet the expectations of his contract was terminated in January 2009. In 22 games for the Swiss, he scored 3 goals and had 22 assists. He then signed a contract with Frölunda HC in Sweden.

A few months later, he returned again to North America and joined the active in the American Hockey League Chicago Wolves at. Pohl succeeded with the team of making the play -offs, in which the team in the Division Finals in seven games, losing to the Texas Stars and was eliminated from the competition. In August 2010, he ended his active career as a professional.

Pohl is with Krissy Wendell, a player of the U.S. ice hockey team of the women married.
