John Rinne

John Wilho channel ( born August 16, 1923 in Turku, Finland, † July 1, 2010 ibid ) was Primate of the Orthodox Church of Finland.

John Wilho gutter studied theology and in 1966 received his doctorate in theology at the Åbo Akademi. In 1971, he finished a degree in Canon Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

In 1967 he joined the religious community in the Monastery of St. John on the island of Patmos and later received the priesthood of the Orthodox Church. In 1969 he was appointed bishop of Lapland and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archbishop of Karelia and Finland. He was Metropolitan of Helsinki 1972. In 1987 he became Archbishop of Karelia and Finland, and the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Finland. After his voluntary retirement in 2001, he was ( titular ) Metropolitan of Nicaea ( Iznik today, Turkey).

Metropolitan John was hired as a multilingual theologian, translator, author and ecumenicist. He was considered an expert in canon law.
