John Rogers (New York politician)

John Rogers ( born May 9, 1813 in Caldwell (now Lake George ), New York, † May 11, 1879 in Fort Edward, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1871 and 1873 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Rogers was born during the British - American War in Caldwell. He completed his preliminary studies. In 1832 he moved to Black Brook in Clinton County, where he pursued the manufacture of iron. He was ten years Supervisor in the Town of Black Brook and held several other local offices. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1870 for the 42nd Congress Rogers in the 16th Election District of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Orange Ferriss on March 4, 1871. He retired after the March 3, 1873 out of the Congress.

After his conference time he returned to the manufacture of iron. On 11 Wed, 1879, he died in " Rogers Place " at Fort Edward in Washington County. His body was then buried in the family cemetery on his property in Moreau at Fort Henry.
