John S. Lewis

John S. Lewis (born 27 June 1941 in Trenton) is an American astrophysicist.

Lewis was a professor of planetary science at the University of Arizona ( Lunar and Planetary Laboratory). In addition, he taught and Planetology cosmochemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is an expert on the chemical composition of asteroids and comets.

1976 Lewis was awarded the James B. Macelwane Medal.
