John Taylor (14th Congress)

John Taylor was an American politician. Between 1815 and 1817 he represented the state of South Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

About John Taylor is poorly understood. Neither his birth nor his place of birth are mentioned in the sources. The same applies to his place of death and date of death. It is certain that Taylor was politically active in South Carolina since 1802. He was a member of, founded by Thomas Jefferson Democratic- Republican Party. Between 1802 and 1805 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from South Carolina.

In the congressional elections of 1814 Taylor was the seventh constituency of South Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he met on March 4, 1815 the successor of Elias Earle. Since he lost against this at the following elections in 1816, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1817. Then Earle was able to take his former mandate again.

In 1820, John Taylor competed unsuccessfully to return to the U.S. House of Representatives. Then lose track of him again.
