John Weathers

John Weathers ( born February 7, 1947 in Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, West Wales ) is a British musician. From 1972 to 1980 he was a member of the band Gentle Giant.

He plays drums, drums, vibraphone, xylophone, guitar and sings. From the album Octopus Weathers drummer was popular for his energetic style at Gentle Giant and fans. John's father is from Liverpool, his mother from Wales. The family moved from Carmarthen to Swansea. As a teenager, he began playing drums at irregular intervals. At 15, he ran away from home to his aunt to Liverpool because the familial tensions between him and his parents had become too great. At night, he now played in bars Swing, by day he worked as a baker's boy. When two years later he returned to Wales, he became a member of the band Eyes of Blue. Eyes of Blue won a local music award, the John's mother still owns today.

In 1983 he played in the rock band Man. He toured in Wales in a pantomime theater group. He also worked as a drummer for various TV shows and appears on several recordings Welsh bands.

On the Single Flying Hero Sandwich / My last tape by Pete Brown & Piblokoto John Weathers played drums. Even on an LP of the neutron called Black Hole Star he shows up. He also played on Bluebell Wood by Big Sleep.

In 2001 he had to give up drumming because he suffers from arthritis in the foot. Today John lives as an ornithologist in Wales.
