John White (footballer born 1937)

John Anderson White ( born April 28, 1937 in Musselburgh, Scotland, † July 21, 1964 in Crews Hill, England) was a Scottish football player who was instrumental in the Double Tottenham Hotspur in the 1960/61 season. His younger brother Tom was also a footballer.

Sports career

John White played 1955-1959 first for Alloa Athletic FC and Falkirk before he was brought in October 1959 by the shop manager Bill Nicholson at the Hotspurs from Tottenham. There, White had its most successful period and helped the club with 18 goals for league and cup victory in the 1960 / 61st

The highlight of his career presented the winning the European Cup Winners' Cup of the season 1963 dar. White, who scored a goal in a 5-1 final victory, helped so Tottemham first international title.

Death

John White died in 1964 at the age of only 27 years after a lightning strike in Crews Hill, England.
