Johnny Damon

Biography

Johnny Damon was selected in the 1992 Amateur Draft by the Kansas City Royals. His first game in major league team the Royals played the outfielder on 12 August 1995. The Royals he played until 2000, the 2001 season he spent with the Oakland Athletics. His biggest successes came with the Boston Red Sox, whose jersey he wore from 2002 to 2005. On 27 June 2003 he had three base hits in one inning at 25:8 victory over the Florida Marlins. In 2004, he was even able to win the World Series with the Red Sox against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Red Sox ended a wait of almost 90 years since their last World Series title. Damon was during this season primarily as a leadoff hitter, he was doing a batting average of 30.4 %, 20 homers and 94 RBIs. In 2005 he reached the Red Sox again the playoffs, but lost to the Chicago White Sox in the American League Divisional Series.

On 20 December 2005 Damon signed a four -year contract with the New York Yankees, which is worth 52 million U.S. dollars. He has represented the United States at the World Baseball Classic in 2006.
