Johnny Mauro

Johnny Mauro ( born October 25, 1910 in Denver, Colorado; † January 23, 2003 in Golden, Colorado) was an American race car driver.

Mauro's family owned several car dealerships, which made him for many years the only Ferrari importer in the region surrounding Denver. He therefore drove vehicles used by Ferrari in the 1940s and 50s and was the founder of the " United States Truck Driving School ," which still carries his daughter today. In early 2003 he was killed in a traffic accident. He was 92 years old.

During his racing career he tried to qualify six times for the 500 miles of Indianapolis. He succeeded only in 1948., Where he reached together with Louis Durant eighth place in the race with an Alfa Romeo.
