Johnny Rep

Nicolas "Johnny" Rep ( born November 25, 1951 in Zaandam ) is a former Dutch football player and coach.

Career

Association

Rep began his career at FC Zaandam. In the summer of 1972, he came up with 20 years to Ajax Amsterdam, who won in 1971 and 1972 the European Cup of Champions. He first came in September 1972 in the World Cup final against CA Independiente used. In the 60th minute, he came off the bench and still scored two goals in the 3-0 win. A year later Rep was instrumental in the third success for Ajax in the European Champions Cup, when he faced Juventus scored the only goal in a 1-0.

In 1975 he moved to FC Valencia, had there but less success. In 1977 he moved to France. With the SEC Bastia in 1978 he reached the UEFA Cup final. He played from 1979 to 1983 in the French first division club AS Saint- Étienne, with the 1981, he was champion of France. 1983 Rep returned to the Netherlands, first to PEC Zwolle, then to Feyenoord and the end of his career for HFC Haarlem.

National

Rep was twice vice-champion with the Dutch national team. With the Football World Cup 1974 in Germany he scored four goals and lost the final Germany. In the European Football Championship 1976, he once met in the quarter- final against Belgium. With the Football World Cup 1978 in Argentina, he scored three goals in the tournament and also lost the final to hosts. In the European Football Championship 1980 Rep once met, but the team did not survive the first round.

He played for the Netherlands 42 international matches and scored twelve goals ..
