Johnny Sheffield

Johnny Sheffield ( born April 11, 1931 in Pasadena, California, † October 15, 2010 in Chula Vista, California; actually Jon Matthew Sheffield Cassan ) was an American film actor.

Life

Due to the persistence of his father Reginald Sheffield, an expatriate British actor, became Johnny Sheffield in 1938 starring in the hit Broadway play On Borrowed Time. The embodied by him role at the time was the longest children's role on Broadway.

Father Reginald read in 1939 a display of MGM, was in the search for a young actor for the popular Tarzan series. He immediately arranged a meeting for Johnny, in which he was to pass a test before the camera and a swimming test. Although he was able to train Johnny for the camera test, but he was afraid that Harry would fall as a non-swimmer by swimming test. Johnny was selected by the Tarzan actor, the ex - swimming champion and multiple Olympic champion Johnny Weissmuller. Weissmuller, it did not matter if Johnny could swim or not. He was only important that he was willing to learn.

Johnny graduated from the flotation test with Weissmuller and was taken for the role of Tarzan's adopted son Boy under contract. His first film alongside Weissmuller was Tarzan Finds a Son ( Tarzan Finds a Son! ). This was followed by seven more performances in this role. After the filming of Tarzan becomes the hunted ( Tarzan and the Huntress ) in 1947, it was not clear whether the Tarzan series would be continued at all, especially since Johnny was now the same size as Weissmuller.

But Johnny soon was obliged by Walter Mirisch as the main role for the Bomba TV series. The pilot staged his father Reginald. After the end of the twelve -part series he produced along with his father the pilot of another TV series that plays in the African jungle: Bantu, the Zebra Boy. But the copies of this film could not be sold. Johnny then decided to complete his education. At the University of California (UCLA ), he received his degree in Business Administration and then moved to Yuma (Arizona ), where he worked for a farm. Later he earned in Malibu and Carmel -by-the -Sea real estate agent as a living, working for an import company. Most recently, he worked for a catering company, the building of all kinds in San Diego and the surrounding area redeveloped.

In 1959, he married his girlfriend Patricia. The couple has three children, sons Patrick and Stewart and daughter Regina. Johnny Sheffield last lived in Chula Vista, where he died of a heart attack in October 2010 at the age of 79 years.
