Jon Eberson

Jon Eberson ( born January 6, 1953 in Oslo) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist.

The son of jazz guitarist Leif Eberson has been working since the age of eighteen as a professional musician. First experience was gained with the quartet of saxophonist Vidar Johansen. After performing with various jazz-rock groups he worked in 1972 with Svein Finnerud, played his first recordings with Ketil Bjørnstad in the following year and entered in the same year with his first own quartet.

After 1973 he worked among others with Magni Wentzel, the jazz-rock group Loose Moose (1973-1977) and the Radka Toneff Quintet (1975-1980) and took on Ketil Bjørnstad with Knut Værnes and Pål Thowsen. 1978-1979, he led a quartet with Jon Balke.

From 1980 to 1981 Eberson led his own jazz quartet, after the Jon Eberson Group ( from 1987 Jon Eberson / Sidsel Endresen Group), with whom he recorded several albums. The album Jive Talking In 1981 he received the Spellemannprisen. In 2000 they created the Jon Eberson Group Album Dreams That Went Away; In 2001, Eberson the albums Jazz For Men ( in a duo with Carl Morten Iversen ) and Mind the Gap ( in trio with Paal Nilssen - Bjørnar Andresen and Love ) on. In the same year he received the Buddy Award from the Norwegian Jazz Forum.
