Jon Ekerold
Jonathan " Jon" Ekerold ( born October 8, 1948 in Johannesburg ) is a former South African motorcycle racer.
Ekerold ³ was on Yamaha 1980 road world champion in the class up to 350 cm. He was the only private drivers, ie drivers without the support of a manufacturer who could win a title in one of the classes from 250 cc. In 1982 Ekerold reached the World Championship in the 350 cc class.
His way from its beginnings in South Africa through to winning the World Cup at the Nürburgring he himself has recorded in his book The Privateer. His son Jonnie was also motorcycle racer and took, among others at the 1999 World Superbike championship part.
