Jon Kyl

Jon Llewellyn Kyl ( born April 25, 1942 in Oakland, Burt County, Nebraska ) is an American politician ( Republican). From 1995 to 2013 he was a U.S. Senator for the state of Arizona. In the Senate he was from December 2007 Minority Whip of the Republican minority faction.

Life

Jon Kyl was born in 1942 as son of Arlene Pearl Griffith and John Henry Kyl, a later U.S. Congressman for the state of Iowa. In 1964, he received his bachelor's degree in 1966 and his law degree from the University of Arizona. Before entering politics, he was a lawyer at the law firm Jennings, Strouss & Salmon in Phoenix.
