Jonathan Guilmette

Jonathan Guilmette ( born August 18, 1978 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a Canadian Shorttracker.

Jonathan Guilmette began skating sports at the age of 6 years. He lives and trains in his hometown of Montreal. He is running for the Club Pointe- aux- Trembles and is coached by Olympic champion Derrick Campbell. Before he ascended into Canada's short track speed skating national team in 1997, he started quite successful in junior competitions, among other things, he was at the Junior World Championships 1995 World Champion on the 1500 - meter distance and 1997 runner over 500 meters. In the World Cup he made his debut in 1999. During the same year he was first Canadian champion. He could repeat this success in 2001 and 2004. At the World Championships he won several medals, including gold in the relay in 2006 or 2004, a silver medal in singles over 1500 meters. In 2004, he was Canada's male runner of the year. About the 3000 - meter distance Jonathan holds the Canadian record.

In the 1998 Olympics he was only substitute. For the first time at the Olympics, he actively took part in the Games of 2002.
