Jonathan Kellerman
Jonathan Kellerman ( born August 9, 1949 in New York, NY) is an American child psychologist and novelist.
Life and work
Jonathan Kellerman grew up in Los Angeles. He studied psychology at the University of Los Angeles ( UCLA) and graduated with honors as a BA from. During his studies he worked as a journalist and illustrator and was rewarded with a Samuel Goldwyn Creative Writing Award. He received his doctorate in 1974 as a PhD in psychology at the University of Southern California. He now teaches occasionally at the School of Medicine in the area of pediatrics. His internship he made at Children's Hospital / USC School of Medicine, where he first worked as a child psychologist after graduation. He later became founding director of the Psychosocial Program, Division of Hematology - Oncology. Today Kellerman is one of the most prestigious psychological counselors at the Superior Court of Los Angeles.
Jonathan Kellerman has written numerous technical articles, three medical books as well as two children's books, which he also illustrated. For his first novel, When the Bough Breaks (1985, German title: blackout), he received the Edgar Allan Poe Award and the Anthony Award (both for Best First Novel) two of the most important crime rates in the USA. The novel was a bestseller in the U.S. and is the only novel by Jonathan Kellerman, who was previously filmed by a television ( NBC).
Since then, Kellerman writes a novel every year. Main characters in most novels are, child psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware and his friend, the gay detective Milo Sturgis of LAPD. In The Butcher 's Theatre (English title: The Phantom of Jerusalem), the Israeli inspector Daniel Shavari determined. In the 1998's novel Billy Straight ( German title: Die Tote in Griffith Park ) LAPD cop Petra Connor is one of the main characters.
The novels by Jonathan Kellerman have been translated into 24 languages.
Kellerman lives with his wife Faye Kellerman, which itself is a well-known crime writer, and the four common children in Los Angeles. Two of her children, son Jesse and her daughter Aliza, are also authors of novels and screenplays. He continues his work in addition to his literary career as a medical consultant. Jonathan is, like his wife, orthodox Jew living.
