Jonathan Robinson (American politician)

Jonathan Robinson ( born August 11, 1756 in Hardwick, Worcester County, Massachusetts, † November 3, 1819 in Bennington, Vermont) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic- Republican), who represented the state of Vermont in the U.S. Senate.

At the age of five years, Jonathan Robinson moved with his parents from Massachusetts to Vermont. The family settled in Bennington. His older brother Moses held there from 1762 onwards the office of the Town Clerk, the chief magistrate of the city; later he became governor of Vermont and sat for the State also in the Senate. The 15- years younger than Jonathan began his political career in 1789 as a deputy in the House of Representatives of Vermont.
