Jono Brauer

Jono Brauer ( Jonathon Brewer, born September 26, 1981 in Sydney ) is a former Australian alpine skier. He started mostly in the slalom and giant slalom, but also drove all other disciplines. He won five times the overall ranking of the Australia New Zealand Cup, drove in the World Cup once in the top 15 and took part in two World Championships and Olympic Winter Games.

Career

Brewer grew up in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales and later moved to Thredbo. He won numerous ski racing at a young age and was several Australian junior champion. The age of 15 he started for the first time in the Australia New Zealand Cup, where he was one of the absolute top runners from 2000. He won five times between 2001 and 2007 the overall standings, took 13 discipline titles (7x slalom, 4x Giant Slalom, Super-G 1x, 1x super combined ) and celebrated 28 individual victories. In addition there were ever a slalom victory in the Nor- Am Cup in 2002 and the European Cup in 2006 and five Australian titles.

In the skiing itself Brauer tried since 2001, the first World Cup points and at the same time he reached his best World Cup result in February 2006 with a 14th place in the super combined in Chamonix. Previously, he had started in the World Cup only in slalom and giant slalom and had it never qualified for a second run. In late November 2006, he was injured at the World Cup races in Beaver Creek and had to pause several months. Back in the World Cup he came only a year later, in mid-November 2007. On November 29, he won the super combined of Beaver Creek with space 27 for the second and last time in his career World Cup points.

Jono Brauer also participated in the 2003 World Cup in St. Moritz, finishing in 43rd place in the slalom. At the Olympic Winter Games in 2006, he started in slalom and in the combination, but could not finish both races. He also participated in the World Championships 2009 in Val d'Isere in part, but fell in the slalom and giant slalom could not qualify for the second run.

His last international appearances had Brauer at the Olympic Winter Games 2010., Where he first achieved the 39th place in the downhill and four days later the 30th place in the Super -G. Then Brauer gave health reasons his retirement from ski racing known. In summer 2010, however, he still took part in the Australian Championships, winning the title in the giant slalom.
