Jorge Mendonça

Jorge Mendonça Pinto ( born June 6, 1954 in Silva Jardim, Rio de Janeiro, † 17 February 2006 in Campinas, São Paulo) was a Brazilian football player.

The most successful period of his career, during which he scored 375 goals, the experienced striker in the 1970s and 1980s. He has played for Náutico Capibaribe ( 1973-76 ), Palmeiras São Paulo ( 1976-79 ) and Guarani FC ( 1980-84 ). In 1978, he took for the Seleção, the Brazilian national team, participated in the World Cup; while he scored a goal in six games, but was able to convince such a way that Zico was not used by precise passes and playful strength. His career ended with financial and family difficulties he seemed to get slowly into the handle. In his last years he was involved in a charity project.

Mendonça died of a heart attack.
