Jorge Telerman

Jorge Telerman ( born November 29, 1955 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine politician and journalist. From 13 March 2006 to 11 December 2007, he was mayor of the capital, Buenos Aires.

Life

Jorge Telerman was born in 1955 as the youngest of three sons in the district of Villa del Parque. His parents, Damian and Fanny Telerman, were merchants and came from Jewish immigrants from who had fled persecution in Europe. He attended an English-language primary school, but then switched to the República del Perú private school. He then attended a secondary school with an emphasis on chemistry. Over the past three school years, he took part there in the late lessons to daytime work in a lab can. After graduation Telerman studied for three years in biochemistry at the Universidad de Buenos Aires.

During the military dictatorship Telerman lived in France, where he worked as a musician and a cook and lectures attended in philosophy at the University of Aix -en- Provence. In 1980 he returned to Argentina and met his future wife, actress Eva Píccolo. The couple has two children: Federico and Catalina. In Buenos Aires, he enrolled at the Centro de Estudios journalism for Buenos Aires, where he met the Oscar semiologists Steimberg and himself specializing in semiology.

Telerman started article for " Medios & Comunicación " to write. In 1982 he moved to the magazine "Don", where Abelardo Ramos, Ana María Shua Dalmiro Sáenz and among his colleagues. In 1984 he became a lecturer at the Universidad de Buenos Aires for semiology and also a lecturer at the Colegio Argentino de Filosofía, where he taught philosophy. As a journalist, he worked for the print media, on radio and on TV works. Political career

Telerman already started to engage early political. He was a student representative in the Middle School and a member of the Young Communists of Argentina ( FEDE ). Influenced by the political ideas of his father, he became in 1974 a member of the Peronist Party. He was speaker of Antonio Cafiero, who in 1987 governor of the province of Buenos Aires was. In 1990, he became press attaché of the Argentine Ambassador Guido di Tella in the USA. It joined other objects in the diplomatic service, 1998 Telerman Argentine ambassador to Cuba. He returned to Buenos Aires to work in the campaign team for Eduardo Duhalde. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1999.

Between 2000 and 2003 Telerman was culture secretary for the city of Buenos Aires. His achievements led to his appointment as Vice - Mayor on 10 December 2003 under Aníbal Ibarra. As such, he was responsible for the social development of the city and was President of the City Parliament. According to Ibarra's dismissal as a result of catastrophic fire in the nightclub República Cromañón Telerman moved according to the mayor's office. At the next regular election in 2007 he was a candidate for the office, but was 20.7 % of the vote only third ( behind Daniel Filmus and Mauricio Macri ).
