Jorge Volpi

Jorge Luis Volpi Escalante (born 10 July 1968 Mexico City) is a Mexican writer. He is counted for so-called Generación del Crack a writers' movement of the late 20th century, the manifesto calls for a departure from magical realism. His most famous work is the novel " The Klingsor paradox".

Life

Volpi studied law and literature at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and holds a PhD in Spanish philology at the University of Salamanca in Spain later. After the graduation Volpi was an attorney, but later worked from 1992 to 1994 as secretary of the Mexican Secretary General Diego Valadés. Since then, he has been mainly working as a freelance writer. From 2001 to 2004 he was cultural attaché to the Mexican Embassy in Paris. Since 2007 he is director of the cultural channel of the UNAM, Canal 22
