Jorge Zaffino

Jorge Zaffino (* 1960, † July 12, 2002 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) was an Argentine cartoonist. In the 1980s he won on the U.S. comic market with its contributions to the comic series Punisher quickly prestige. Zaffino died early, at the age of 43, of a heart attack.

Life

Zaffino fascinated him since his youth for art, especially painting, and began to work IV after his studies for the Argentine comic Studios La Oficina and Nippur. For the publishing house Columba he was, among other things, on the Nippur de Lagash series. Together with Robin Wood he created series such as Kayan, Wolf and Troels. Mid-1980s, he began to draw and 1987 he recorded with The Punisher by writer Chuck Dixon for the first time for the U.S. market for Italian comics, published by Marvel Comics. This was followed by work on various other publishers, including Winter World, Hellraiser, Terror Inc. and Sage Shadow Line.

Evaluation of his work

The comic book writer Chuck Dixon, had worked with the Zaffino on The Punisher and Winter World, guess Zaffinos craftsmanship and style, which could radiate "strength, passion and malice ". Zaffino was able to draw figures that looked dangerous and no one wants to ever meet. Therefore, he cut to the stories on Zaffinos gloomy style that the artist was able to convey " both the small human moments as well as the great operatic aspects of the comic ."
