Jorge Zorreguieta

Jorge Horacio Zorreguieta Stefanini ( born January 28, 1928 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine politician and the father of the Dutch Queen Máxima.

Life

Origin

He was the son of the banker Juan Antonio Zorreguieta Bonorino (1899-1959) and the Cesina Stefanini Borella (1901-1999), daughter of a native Genoese, born. His grandfather was Dr. Amadeo Zorreguieta Hernandez, Mayor of Mendoza and Minister of Public Works of the Province of Mendoza, who was married to Maxima Blanca Bonorino Gonzalez (1874-1965), daughter of Máxima y González de Islas, a relative of the Argentine President Justo José de Urquiza († 1870).

Jorge Zorreguietas great-grandfather was Mariano Zorreguieta Maurin (1830-1893), President of the Senate of the Argentine province of Salta, an illegitimate grandson of a wealthy businessman José Antonio de Sorreguieta y Oyarzabal, Gamboa y Sagastume, 1777 in the northern Spanish ( Basque ) Tolosa, the son of Juan Antonio de Sorreguieta y Gamboa was born in 1790 and came to Salta in Argentina.

Marriages and children

Jorge Zorreguieta was married twice and has seven children from these two marriages. The 1956 contracted marriage with Martha López Gil ( born 1935 ) was divorced. His most famous daughter, from the existing since May 27, 1970 marriage to María del Carmen Cerruti Carricart (* 1944 ) is the King Willem -Alexander of the Netherlands married Máxima (* 1971). He was not allowed to attend his daughter's wedding because of its professionally linked with the Argentine military dictatorship past 2002.

Even the enthronement of his son, he had to stay away on 30 April 2013.

Profession

Jorge Zorreguieta was from 1976 to 1979 Secretary of State and then to 1981, Minister of Agriculture in the dictatorship of Jorge Rafael Videla.

Since 1984 he was Presidente del Centro Argentino Azucarero and since 1995 Presidente de la Fundación Vasco Argentina Juan de Garay ( president of a pressure group of Basques living in Argentina ).

Accuse

2001 rejected the Dutch Public Prosecutor's Office from a complaint against Zorreguieta for his role in the dictatorship. Reason was lack of jurisdiction.

7 September 2011 confirmed the Dutch prosecutor that against Zorreguieta action in connection with the disappearance of the physician Samuel Leonardo Slutzky has been submitted. This was made possible by a change of various laws since 2001.
