José Félix Estigarribia

José Félix Estigarribia Insaurralde ( born February 21, 1888 in Caraguatay, † September 7, 1940 in Altos ) was a Paraguayan military ( Field Marshal ) and politicians.

He joined in 1910 in the armed forces of Paraguay and was then sent for further training at the French Military Academy of Saint- Cyr. During the Chacokrieges he made a meteoric career, which ultimately leads him to the top of the Army, where he played a major role in the victory against the better equipped and more numerous Bolivian army.

1939 Estigarribia was elected President of Paraguay and sat six months later the constitution. However, this had no effect, because in 1940 he and his wife were in a plane crash. His remains are buried in the Plaza de los Héroes in the National Pantheon of the capital Asunción.

After Estigarribia the Mariscal Estigarribia place ( Camacho and former General Fortin Fortin Lopez de Filippis ) was named in the Paraguayan Chaco.
