Player

The native Basque came in 1928 at the age of 16 years to Athletic Bilbao and already managed in the following season 1929/30, the leap to the first team. His Erstligadebüt he gave on January 5, 1930 in a game against the Basque rivals Real Unión Irun, which was won with 5:2.

In the same season Iraragorri Bilbao won with the league and cup double and defended in 1930/31 both titles in the following season. The Copa del Rey was also in the following two years, 1932 and 1933 - won - and thus four times in a row. Two more league titles were added for the seasons 1933/34 and 1935 /36.

The 1936 outbreaks of Spanish Civil War ended the first great epoch of Athlétic Bilbao as well as the national career of Iraragorri who brought it 1931-1936 to seven international appearances and participated in the FIFA World Cup 1934, where in the second round against Brazil, he (3:1) had taken from the penalty spot to make it 1-0. Iraragorri also participated in the quarterfinals to eventual champions Italy and reached with his team a 1-1 draw after extra time. The time required repetition game in which the Italians were able to prevail 1-0, lacked Iraragorri.

Iraragorri joined the Basque national team that undertook a trip to Mexico in 1937 and in the season 1938/39, under the name of Euskadi took part in the play mode of the Mexican League.

He then moved to Argentina, where he played in the 1939/40 season for the San Lorenzo de Almagro. The end of 1940 he returned to Mexico and joined the Real Club España resident in Mexico City, with whom he twice won the Mexican Championship (1942 and 1945), once the cup competition (1944 ) and twice the Super Cup (1944 and 1945).

In 1946 he returned to his homeland and played again briefly for Athletic Bilbao, in whose ranks he probably in the 1946/47 season could end his active career.
