José Luis Borbolla

José Luis Borbolla ( born January 31, 1920 in Mexico City; † February 11, 2001 ) was a Mexican footballer, who was part of the squad at the 1950 World Cup.

Although around come a long way during his football career, he lived at the end of his life in the calle Ciprés Colonia Santa María la Ribera and thus in close proximity to the calle de Pino, where he gained his first experience as a football player.

Biography

Association

The player with the Asturian family roots began his career in the Mexican capital club CF Asturias, but switched early on to its archrival España. 1942 brought General Aguirre the talented striker to the club Marte. The upgraded with other top players team won the last championship of the Primera Fuerza (1942 /43) before the introduction of professional football. The first season in the newly created La Liga Borbolla stood still in the service of Club Marte, before moving in 1944 to Spain, where he played for Real Madrid, Deportivo La Coruna and Celta de Vigo.

Probably 1947, he returned to Mexico, where he first played for CD Veracruz, and then stood at Club América under contract. After the end of his playing career he coached this club yet for a season before he independently came to prominence as a textile manufacturer.

National

Twice he came in the jersey of his home country for use when Mexico completed a few weeks before the Football World Cup 1950 two test matches against Spain (1:3 and 0:0). Borbolla also belonged to the Mexican World Cup squad and was probably there at the game against Switzerland (1:2 ) are used.
