José Marín

José Marín (José Marín Sospedra, Catalan Josep Marín i Sospedra; born January 20, 1950 in El Prat de Llobregat, Catalonia ) is a former Spanish goers. He was European champion in the 20 km walk and presented with a world record 3:40:46 h in a 50 km Walk on.

At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980, he was fifth on 20 km and sixth over 50 km. In 1982 he won at the European Athletics Championships in Athens over 20 miles and won over 50 km of silver behind Reima Salonen from Finland. The following year, he won at the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki over 50km also silver and finished fourth over 20 km. At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, he came up to sixth place.

In 1987 he was at the World Championships in Rome a bronze medal over 20 km. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 was again on both walkers distance traveling and was fourth 20km and fifth over 50 km.

He started three more times at major international events over 50 miles: In the EM 1990 in Split, he finished fifth at the European Championships in 1991 in Tokyo and twelfth at the Olympic Games in 1992 in Barcelona ninth.

José Marín is 1,64 m tall and weighed about 60 kg competition times. He comes from the same town as the younger of the brothers Jorge Llopart. Llopart and Marín were the first two Spanish skier who won medals internationally.
