José Zalazar

José Luis Zalazar ( born October 26, 1963 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player who acted mainly as an attacking midfielder.

Life

Association

Zalazar began his professional career in 1982 at his hometown club Peñarol Montevideo, with whom he won the 1982 and 1985 Uruguayan championship in seasons. 1986 he joined the Mexican first division club Tecos de la UAG, where he was División in the 1986/87 season at first scorer of the Mexican Primera. After a year at the Tecos, he joined the Spanish side FC Cadiz and returned for the 1988/89 season to the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. In the 1989/90 season he played again in the Spanish Primera División, where the RCD Espanyol this time he was under contract. His longest station he found between 1990 and 1996 at the Spanish club Albacete Balompié, to which he again briefly returned in 1998, where he ended his active career. With this club he won in his first season, 1990/91 second division championship and managed as a climber in the 1991/92 season a respectable seventh place in the Primera División. In the same season Zalazar was awarded the Trofeo EFE as the best Latin American player in the Spanish League.

National

Zalazar participated with the Uruguayan U -20 team at the U-20 South American Championship in 1983 and was runner-up South American champions. In the same year he reached the quarterfinals of the Celeste at the Junior World Cup in 1983. Between 13 June 1984 and the September 19, 1993 Zalazar completed a total of 29 caps for the senior national team, in which he scored four goals. He was also the 1986 World Cup squad of Uruguay and came in the preliminary round of the 1986 World Cup in the 1:6 defeat to Denmark for use.
