Josef Franz Wagner ( born March 20, 1856 in Vienna, † June 5, 1908 ) was an Austrian military bandmaster and composer.

Josef Franz Wagner was a military bandmaster in the Infantry regiments No. 47 and No. 49 and head of a popular private chapel. In addition to his dance compositions especially his marches were popular. Even his contemporaries referred to him as the Austrian march king.

His most famous work is the march "Under the Double Eagle" (op. 159), dating from 1893, named after the double eagle in the coat of arms of Austria -Hungarian Empire. He is now the official march of the First Austrian Artillery Regiment. Also popular is the march " Tyrolean Holzhackerbuab'n ", the " The Merry Holzhackerbuam " is also known as Polka.

Josef Franz Wagner is in an honorary dedicated grave in Vienna's Central Cemetery (Group 35 A, Row G 2, grave 8) buried.
