Josep Costa Sobrepera

Josep Costa Sobrepera (* June 30, 1937 in Palafrugell, Catalonia ) is a painter of figurative representations and landscapes in oil and water colors.

Life

The son of parents who worked in the cork industry, has been recognized by his teachers as an artist. He received evening classes at the local school of the arts, and got his first job at 16 in the workshop of master blacksmith Joan Gich. The first public exhibition of his work was in 1955 at the Library of Palafrugell, driven by his teacher Lluís Medir Jofra.

Later, his works were exhibited in the library and other centers of the city. Since 1958, he participated in national and international events, and won several awards. In the 1960s, has been employed by several companies as a technical engineer, and taught evening classes at the School of Arts and Crafts in Palafrugell, as a replacement for his teacher. In 1966 he enrolled at the School of Industrial Engineers in Barcelona.

Until 1971 he lived in Barcelona, ​​where he had his first studio, and enrolled as a listener at the School of Fine Arts, where he met artists like Martinez Lozano. He returned to Palafrugell back in 1972 to devote himself entirely to painting. In the following years he exhibited his work in various galleries throughout Catalonia and Spain, including Barcelona 's Sala Rovira, and has been in various competitions, both nationally and internationally excellent.
