Joseph Charlier

Joseph Charlier ( born June 20, 1816 in Brussels, † December 6, 1896 ) was a Belgian lawyer, writer, accountant and businessman.

Charlier was in the 19th century one of the first advocates of the so-called " unconditional basic income ". He is mentioned in some works of the Belgian socialism and liberalism. Charlier took the view that every citizen originally was co-owner of the national territory of each country. From government agencies it is therefore an amount to pay amount equal to the crop yield his or her share.
