Joseph García (U.S. politician)

Joseph A. Garcia ( born March 21, 1957 in Lafayette, Indiana) is an American politician. Since 2011 he has been Vice- Governor of the State of Colorado.

Career

Joseph Garcia studied until 1979 at the University of Colorado at Boulder. This was followed up in 1983 to study law at Harvard University. In the following years, he held various positions in the education sector and was curator of several educational institutions. Between 2001 and 2006 he headed the Pikes Peak Community College; after that he was in Pueblo to 2010 president of the Colorado State University.

Politically, Garcia joined the Democratic Party. In 2010 he was elected to the side of John Hickenlooper for Lieutenant Governor of the State of Colorado. He is assistant to the governor. His current term of office runs until 2015.
