Joseph Helffrich
Joseph Helffrich ( born January 12, 1890 in Mannheim, † 1971) was a German astronomer who discovered, among others, the following asteroids:
- Galilea ( discovered on February 14, 1910)
- Ernestina ( discovered on March 5, 1910)
- Hela ( discovered on June 5, 1910)
- Auravictrix ( discovered on June 5, 1910)
- Orolia ( discovered on July 12, 1910)
- Alauda ( discovered on July 16, 1910)
- Hirundo ( discovered on October 9, 1910)
- Raphaela ( discovered on February 3, 1911)
- Fringilla ( discovered on February 3, 1911)
- Luscinia ( discovered on April 18, 1911)
- Ulula ( discovered on May 18, 1911)
For all asteroids are objects in the so-called main belt.
He studied at Heidelberg University, received his PhD in 1913 and was a member of the Heidelberg State Observatory king chair.
After him the asteroid ( 2290 ) Helffrich is named.
