Joseph Kane

Joseph Kane (actually Jasper Joseph Inman Kane, Joe Kane often; born March 19, 1894 in San Diego, California, † August 25, 1975 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American film director, mainly of Western.

Life

Kane was a musician in his first career and earned his living as a cellist until 1926. Then he oriented himself a new career and turned to film editing to. He worked mainly silent movie westerns; Mid-1930s, he was hired as director of production companies such as Mascot and other small companies. After these had risen in the Republic Pictures, he was the master director of action-packed substances, mostly Western, to the end of the company in 1958.

After starting out for serial he turned with many of the former Western stars like Gene Autry and Roy Rogers and John Wayne as coming at the beginning of his career. Over the years, the budgets were narrow; after the end of Republic Kane found work in television and directed numerous episodes of popular Western series such as The Man Without a Gun, at the foot of the Blue Mountains or one thousand miles of dust. Occasionally he put currently work for the cinema.
