Joseph Malouf

Joseph Malouf SMSP (December 6, 1893 in Zabbougha in Lebanon; † March 5, 1968 ) was born with the name Rasheed Saleem Malouf and was archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Baalbek in Lebanon.

Life

Joseph Malouf was ordained on July 20, 1925 Chaplain of the Melkite Paulist. On 5 October 1937, he was appointed Bishop of Baalbek. After the confirmation of 26 October 1937, he was ordained on the same day to the bishop. Thus he succeeded Melezio Abou- Assaleh. From 1941 to 1943 he was also the apostolic administrator of Acre in Israel. From 1962 to 1965 he was a participant in all sessions of the Second Vatican Council. After the elevation of the bishopric to an archbishopric Baalbek he received on 18 November 1964, the appointment as archbishop.
