Joseph Olshan

Joseph Olshan ( born April 6, 1958 in New York City ) is an American writer.

Life

Joseph Olshan is the son of Marvin L., a lawyer, and Malchia Olshan, nee Sandford. He attended from 1974 to 1976, the University of Vermont and then to 1978 the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received his bachelor's degree. He moved to Los Angeles, where he among other things, for Jerry Sorry Productions, EMI Films and other production companies reading screenplays. From 1981 he worked until 1984 as a freelance journalist. After 1985, he taught for a year creative writing in New York City, he was a lecturer in 1986 in the same capacity at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and from 1987 to 1988 again at New York University.

Olshan won in 1985 with his debut novel, Clara 's Heart the Times / Jonathan Cape Young Writers Award. The novel was heart laid under the title Claras 1988 by Kiepenheuer & Malevich and filmed under the title Clara's secret with Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Ontkean, Kathleen Quinlan and Neil Patrick Harris in the lead roles. From 1992 to 1994 Olshan worked as a literary critic at the Wall Street Journal.
