Joseph P. McFadden

Joseph Patrick McFadden ( May 22nd, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † May 2, 2013 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic Bishop of Harrisburg.

Life

Joseph McFadden attended from 1953 to 1961, the Our ​​Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, and from 1961 to 1965, the St. Thomas More High School for Boys. After high school, he studied political science at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, where in 1969 he received his bachelor's degree. McFadden now taught at the West Catholic Boys High School. In 1976, he entered the Seminary of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. The archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal John Joseph Krol, ordained him a priest on May 16, 1981. In June 1981, he was parochial vicar of St. Laurence Parish in Highland Park. From 1982 to 1993 he was secretary of John Joseph Krol. Pope John Paul II awarded him in 1991 the title of Pontifical honorary prelate. He was founding president of Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield in 1993. Eight years later, he became the pastor of the parish of St. Joseph in Downingtown.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 8 June 2004 as Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia and Titular Bishop of Horreomargum. The archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal Justin Francis Rigali, donated to him on July 28th of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Auxiliary Bishops Robert Patrick Maginnis and Michael Francis Burbidge.

On 22 June 2010 he was beatified by Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Harrisburg and introduced into the office on 18 August of the same year.
