Joseph Paneth

Joseph Paneth ( born October 6, 1857 in Vienna, † January 4, 1890 ) was an Austrian physiologist and Erstbeschreiber named after him Paneth cells. He is the father of the chemist Friedrich Adolf Paneth.

Paneth worked in Ernst Brücke physiological institute in Vienna, where he became a staff and then the successor of Sigmund Freud was first. In Freud's Non - Dream vixit Paneth is mentioned as a " friend and foe P. ". Paneth was also in contact with Friedrich Nietzsche. His philosophical work on epistemological problems were not published.
