Joseph Strickland

Joseph Edward Strickland ( born October 31, 1958 in Fredericksburg, Texas, United States) is a bishop of Tyler.

Life

The Bishop of Lubbock, Michael Jarboe Sheehan, ordained him a deacon on 8 December 1984 and the Bishop of Dallas, Thomas Ambrose Tschoepe, ordained him a priest on June 1, 1985. He was incardinated February 24, 1987 in the clergy of the newly established Diocese of Tyler.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 29 September 2012 for the Bishop of Tyler. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Galveston - Houston, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, on 28 November of the same year; Co-consecrators were Álvaro Corrada del Rio SJ, Bishop of Mayagüez, and Michael Jarboe Sheehan, Archbishop of Santa Fe.
