Journal of the American Chemical Society

The Journal of the American Chemical Society, usually with J. Am. Chem Soc. or abbreviated JACS, is a peer -reviewed scientific journal, published since 1879 by the American Chemical Society. Two other journals have been merged into the Journal:

  • In July 1893 Journal of Analytical and Applied Chemistry and
  • In January 1914, the American Chemical Journal.

The weekly publication of original research articles covering all areas of chemistry. JACS is the journal with the most citations in the field of chemistry. The Impact Factor was in 2012 at 10.677. According to the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge, the journal impact factor with this in the category of multidisciplinary chemistry is performed in eleventh place out of 152 journals.

Peter J. Stang of the University of Utah since 2002 has been editor of JACS.
