Józef Dowbor-Muśnicki

Józef Dowbor - Musnicki ( born October 25, 1865 in Garbów, † October 26, 1937 in Batorowo ) was a Polish general.

Dowbor - Musnicki was born in a Polish patriotic family, what shaped him for his whole life. He attended high school in Radom in 1877 and 1884 to 1886 the military school in Saint Petersburg. By 1888, he studied military science at the School of the Grand Duke Constantine. After service as a lieutenant in the 140th line infantry regiment and the 11th Infantry Regiment in Yaroslavl, he studied from 1899 to 1902 at the General Staff Academy in St. Petersburg and became at this time the rank of captain.

After demobilization in 1918 Dowbor - Musnicki returned to Poland and participated under Józef Piłsudski in the development of the Polish Army, which he commanded in the Poznań uprising. In 1919 he was promoted to lieutenant general. In 1920 he retired and retired to his estate in Batorowo, where he died in 1937.
