József Pecsovszky

Iosif " Peci " Petschovski or - Hungarian - Perényi József ( born July 2, 1921 in Timişoara, Timiş, † October 6, 1968 in Arad ) was a Romanian and Hungarian football player and coach. He played a total of 350 games in the Hungarian Nemzeti National Championship and the Romanian Divizia A. In addition, he participated in the 1952 Olympics.

Life

Iosif Petschovski was born in 1921 in Timişoara. His father came from Bohemia, his mother from the Banat. In 1934 he started at the age of 13 years playing football in the youth team of Chinezul Timişoara, after he was discovered by the Austrian coach of the team.

Career as a player

Petschovski began his career with his hometown club Chinezul Timişoara. In 1937 he came there in the first team, which played into the Divizia B. In 1940 he was given the opportunity to local rivals CAMT in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A switch, where he came the first time for use on 2 June 1940. In 1941, he joined the Hungarian Nemzeti National Championship to Nagyváradi AC, which played since the Second Vienna Award there. In Nagyvarad he won the Hungarian championship in 1944. Then moved on to league rivals Petschovski Kolozsvári AC.

After the war Petschovski joining the company Arad, one of the most successful Romanian teams in the 1940s and 1950s. In Arad, he could win the Romanian Cup in 1947, 1948 and 1950 the Romanian Championship and in 1948. He was blocked in the fall of 1947 for three months because he had bet ahead of a international match against Poland on 19 July 1947 the opponents.

Before the start of the 1952 season left Petschovski Arad and moved on to league rivals CCA Bucharest (later Steaua Bucharest). Also in Bucharest Petschovski could expand its collection of titles and helped his team to win the championships in 1952 and 1953 and to a further cup success.

After three years in Bucharest Petschovski returned to Arad. However, the club was unable to repeat his earlier successes, and placed in the following years only in mid-table. In 1961 he finished his career.

National

During his time at AC Nagyváradi Petschovski took to the Hungarian nationality and played 1942-1943 under the name Perényi József three times for the Hungarian national football team. He had his debut on November 1, 1942 against Switzerland.

After he returned to Romania after the war, he came 1945-1958 to 32 inserts for the Romanian national football team, whose captain he was several times. He made his debut on September 30, 1945, at his former team from Hungary. In 1952 Petschovski stood in the squad for the football tournament of the Olympic Games in Helsinki and came in the game against the eventual Olympic champion Hungary used.

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career Petschovski was in season 1962/63 coach of his former club UTA Arad.

Others

In 1952 Petschovski was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports was the first football player from Romania.

Outside the stadium, UTA Arad is a statue of Petschovski.

Petschovski could play any position. Even as a goalkeeper he ran on in a league match against Gaz Metan Medias.
