Jørn Riel
Jørn Riel ( born July 23, 1931 in Odense ) is a Danish writer.
Life
The trained radio operator and navigator Riel participated in 1951-53 in an expedition to East Greenland to perform meteorological investigations. In total, he spent sixteen years in Greenland. In the 1960s, he toured the West Indies, North Africa and Southeast Asia. For the United Nations, he worked in Jordan and Syria. Today he divides his time between Scandinavia and Malaysia.
Work
Riels stories and novels are mostly in the Arctic. While he wintered in 1951 with an Inuk as a companion in Northeast Greenland, he began to pass the time to write stories and tell. His stories are in the Scandinavian tradition of orally transmitted legends. Underlying them are the stories of Scandinavian hunters in Northeast Greenland, the Riel even met before their bases were closed in the 1950s. Riel wrote over 40 books that have been translated into numerous languages. In Denmark made his books a total circulation of more than one million.

The novel Before the morning was filmed by Marie -Hélène Cousineau and Madeline Ivalu under the title Le Jour avant le lendemain. The film was released in 2008.
