Juan Carlos Muñoz

Juan Carlos Muñoz ( born March 4, 1919 in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires Province; † November 22, 2009 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine football player and coach.

With the Argentina national football team he won the Copa América. At club level he was in the 1940s at CA River Plate part of the legendary Máquina, one of the outstanding club formations in football history, and won four championships with the club.

Career

Muñoz first played in the youth team of the club CA Independiente. This association was in Muñoz ' home district, the industrial suburb Avellaneda on the outskirts of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires is home. From there, he moved in 1939 as only 19 -year-old for his time dominated by Carlos Peucelle CA River Plate.

In his new club he played himself soon as right winger in the basic formation and 1941 won his first Argentine championship. In 1942 was the birth of Máquina beat making machine, such as the Argentine football those years belonged to River Plate called, he was a member of this formation.

National

With the Argentina national team, he won in 1945 in Santiago de Chile under coach Guillermo Stábile the Campeonato Sudamericano. Overall, he was appointed to the national team 11 times, scoring two goals.

Later years

In later years, Juan Carlos Muñoz operated among other things as a sports journalist for various radio stations.

Muñoz was since the death of Félix Loustau 2003 as the last of the legendary Retained Máquina. He died at the age of 90 years in Buenos Aires of a heart attack.
