Juan Formell

Juan Formell ( born August 2, 1942 in Havana ) is a band leader and bassist of the salsa and closely related styles such as timba.

In 1957 he began to make music, as of November 1959, he was the bass player for the Banda de Música de la Policía Revolucionaria. In the 60s he was a member of the Orquesta Revé Elio Revés and founded in 1969 the famous Cuban band Los Van Van.

In this band, he sat for the first time in Cuba electric instruments such as guitar, bass and keyboards one.
