Juan Ramón Verón

Juan Ramón Verón ( born March 17, 1944 in La Plata ) is a former Argentine footballer.

Playing career

Juan Ramón Verón was best known for his playful and technical skills. In his homeland of acting in the attacking midfield player was therefore nicknamed La Bruja which means as much as " The Witcher ". From 1962 to 1972 he played for the Argentine top club Estudiantes de La Plata and became one of the most successful and popular players of his club. In 1968 he scored the decisive goal for World Cup victory over Manchester United Estudiantes.

After 1972, he spent two years in Greece with Panathinaikos Athens and a year in Colombia, before he returned again in 1975 to Estudiantes de La Plata.

A trainer

After he finished his active career, Juan Ramón Verón took a coaching job at the Guatemalan club Comunicaciones before he followed - Consultants his former team Estudiantes de La Plata was - and to this day. His above-average talent he gave to his son Juan Sebastián Verón on, who like his father was Argentina's national team.
